The 73 m long and 875 tonne special steel span (bridge) for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor has been successfully installed on pillars of about 16 m height constructed on either side of the main road of EPE.
This special steel span was built over a structure of beams and columns before the installation of this special steel span over the EPE. After being made, with the help of winch and roller, it was moved towards the pillars made on both sides and was mounted on them.

It is completely ready and after its installation, works like track laying and OHE installation can now be started immediately. With the installation of this special steel span, another phase of the construction of India’s first RRTS corridor between Delhi and Meerut has been completed. Including this span, so far 5 special steel spans have been installed for Delhi Meerut RRTS corridor, one 73 meter long special span at Vasundhara on the main railway line, one 150 meter long steel span near Ghaziabad station, two 45 meter long The steel spans are built for RRTS Viaduct leading to Duhai Depot and these 73 meters long spans are designed to cross EPE.
Why is it used
NCRTC usually erects pillars at an average distance of 34 meters for the construction of elevated viaduct of RRTS corridor. After which the launching gantry builds the viaduct of the RRTS on these. However, in some complex areas where the corridor is crossing rivers, bridges, rail crossings, metro corridors, expressways or other such existing infrastructure, it is not practically possible to maintain this distance between pillars.
