8 cyber thugs arrested in Sitapur.
In Sitapur, police arrested 8 members of a gang of online fraudsters. The police have also recovered 120 Aadhar cards, 100 encrypted PAN cards, 1,650 fake ID-issued SIM cards and other computers and laptops from their possession. These thugs are residents of Lucknow and Siddharth Nagar.
Used to open account in bank with fake ID, then used to do fraud
Please inform that the matter is of Ataria police station area. Here a month ago, the account holders of Axis Bank created a ruckus in the bank by giving information about the transactions of lakhs in the accounts. The police registered a case in the matter after taking information from the bank and started investigation. Police investigation revealed that in the name of making Ayushman cards of some poor people of Ataria village, fraudsters had taken the villagers’ Aadhar card and thumb in the machine. After which the fraudsters opened an account in Axis Bank in a fraudulent manner and made transactions worth lakhs of rupees online.
After this, the gang members used to register the active SIM in the bank accounts with the fake ID in the accounts and without the knowledge of the account holder used to sell the bank pass book, ATM, registration SIM card. After which the money coming in those accounts was withdrawn without any intervention. A month ago, when the account holders got the bank’s pass book printed, the senses of the account holders including the bank officials were blown away because lakhs of transactions were done in the accounts of poor people of the village. The police started searching for the thugs through surveillance in the case.
1,650 SIM cards found with 8 gang members
On the basis of the location found with the help of surveillance team, police arrested 6 people from 4 wheeler near Bhagautipur. On his behest, two more members of the gang were arrested. When the police questioned them strictly, the senses of the police were blown away. The police have recovered 120 fake Aadhaar cards, 100 fake PAN cards, 1,650 fake ID-issued SIM cards, 2 laptops, one desk top computer, three printers, 44 debit cards and one bike from their possession.
Police have also recovered 25 mobiles, 10 bills, 3 pen drives, 1 skimmer and other items during the raid. All the arrested accused are residents of Lucknow and Siddharthnagar. Police say that the members of these gangs have committed crimes in Lucknow, Prayagraj and many other districts of the state and even Bihar. A huge amount of money and property has also been created from this crime. The police has started the process of sending all of them to jail.
