Expansion
After almost 100 years, the beauty of Angoori Bagh, built in front of the Khasmahal of Emperor Shah Jahan in the Agra Fort, has returned. The Archaeological Survey of India has installed red stone nets in Angoori Bagh which were demolished during the British period.
ASI has installed 21 red stone nets on the banks of Angoori Bagh at a cost of Rs 30 lakh in three months, on which grapes will now be planted like the Mughalia era. Iron railings will be installed adjacent to the nets so that the stone nets do not have any weight. Under the direction of ASI engineer Amarnath Gupta, the nets of Angoori Bagh were prepared in the fort itself.
Soil was brought from Kashmir
Former Senior Conservation Assistant of ASI Dr. RK Dixit told that during the tenure of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, plants were planted in Angoori Bagh by bringing soil from Kashmir. Grapes, apples and other plants were planted in it. The design of this garden is unique. In the year 2003, the then Superintending Archaeologist KK Muhammad got it prepared on the Mughalian method by installing a trench in the garden.
Jaalis made on the basis of evidence
Superintending archaeologist Dr. Rajkumar Patel said that red stone mesh is visible in the old photograph of Angoori Bagh, on that basis new nets have been prepared and installed. On the basis of the evidence, the designs have been made and the nets have been installed. Grapes vines are also being planted here according to the name.
