There is a bad news for the people suffering from inflation. Amidst the continuous increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and CNG, now the app-based taxi service provider Uber has also given a big blow. Uber has announced a 12 percent hike in fares in Delhi-NCR.
Uber India and South Asia Head of Operations Nitin Bhushan said cab drivers were demanding a hike in fares following the recent hike in oil prices. Keeping in view the concern of the drivers, the company has increased the fare so that they do not have to bear much burden.
Bhushan said that we will keep a constant watch on oil prices and necessary steps will be taken in future. Earlier, Uber had increased fares by 15 per cent in Mumbai and 12 per cent in Kolkata. Taxi service provider company Ola has also recently increased the fare by up to 11.

Significantly, in Delhi, auto, taxi and cab drivers demonstrated at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday, demanding a subsidy from the government to get relief from the rising prices of CNG. The protesters have warned that they will go on an indefinite strike from April 18 if their demands are not met.
Delhi Auto Rickshaw Association general secretary Rajendra Soni said that the unprecedented hike in CNG price has broken the back of auto and cab drivers.
This demonstration was done under the banner of Delhi Auto Rickshaw Association. He said that representatives of other organizations including Delhi Pradesh Taxi Union and All Delhi Auto Taxi Transporter Congress Union also participated in this demonstration.
