New Delhi. American tech giant and iPhone maker Apple is supporting nearly one million jobs through its work force, apps and supplier partners, with significant investments in India. The company’s Vice President (Product Operations) Priya Balasubramaniam said this on Thursday.
Addressing the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2021, Balasubramaniam said that Apple has been doing business in India for more than two decades and has started manufacturing ‘iPhone’ from 2017 at its plant in Bengaluru. .
Since then, we have expanded our facilities in Bangalore and Chennai, from where we have manufactured several models of iPhones for the domestic market and exports. We are making significant investments in India to grow our operations along our supply chain and expand our reach and connect with local suppliers.”
Models such as the iPhone 11, new iPhone SE and iPhone 12 have been assembled in India by the company’s supplier-partners. He said that Apple supports about one million jobs in India today.
