In Azamgarh district, four women who robbed the chains from women by diverting the attention of women have been arrested by the district police. The arrested women used to carry out robbery incidents by diverting their attention by taking the women on the way. The victims women could come to know about this later. A gold chain has also been recovered from the possession of the arrested women.

Women had lodged complaint
Sunita Saroj, a resident of Harvanshpur in the district, was coming to pick up her son who had come to take the examination at the school located in Elwal of the city. Seeing the gold chain around the neck of Sunita riding in the e-rickshaw, four women present in the civil line area stopped the e-rickshaw and boarded it. Taking a chance on the way, those women blew the chain present around Sunita’s neck and she could not even notice it. When Sunita stopped the e-rickshaw at Baradeo Tirahe in Matabarganj and went to the school to pick up her son, her attention was drawn towards the chain missing from her neck. The woman immediately followed the e-rickshaw with the help of a bike rider. Some distance ahead, women riding in an e-rickshaw were seen near Laldiggi Bandhe and the victim caught everyone making noise. Hearing the woman’s noise, the people around gathered at the spot and during the search, a chain stolen from the victim was found near a woman. On information, the city police reached the spot and they were detained. In the case, the police say that in the interrogation of these women, it is also being ascertained that how many incidents have been carried out so far.
