On the last day of nomination in Azamgarh district, three candidates withdrew, the number of candidates contesting in the district increased to 114.
Three candidates withdrew their names today, the last day of withdrawal of nominations, for the elections to be held for 10 assembly seats in Azamgarh district. With the withdrawal of the names of three candidates, the number of contesting candidates in the fray has come down to 114. For the 2022 assembly elections, 133 candidates had filed nominations in the district, but after 16 candidates’ papers were rejected, the number was reduced to 114.
Three including SP rebels withdrew their names
On the last day of withdrawal of nominations in the assembly elections, three candidates withdrew their names. Among those who withdrew their nominations were Jairam Patel, who had rebelled against the SP from the district’s Sagdi assembly, Sandhya Singh, an independent candidate from Didarganj assembly, and Ramesh of the Peace Party from Mubarakpur withdrew their nominations. However, Jairam Patel had spoken of contesting the elections. Jairam Patel was in line for SP ticket, became a rebel due to non-receipt of ticket and for this reason he entered the field but on the last day he withdrew his name. After the withdrawal of three candidates, this number has come down to 114. All these candidates have entered the fray to try their luck. Now the position of the candidates has become clear in every assembly after the withdrawal of nominations.
