Bahraich. In the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, once again the dominance of BJP remained in Bahraich district. BJP won 5 out of 7 assembly seats here, while the remaining 2 seats went to SP’s account. BJP’s candidate Sureshwar Singh registered a big victory in Mahsi assembly seat here. He defeated SP candidate by 42684 votes. On the other hand, SP candidate Madhuri Verma, who changed the political equation every time in Nanpara assembly seat, was defeated by Apna Dal-S candidate this time.
SP candidate Madhuri Verma won the 2012 assembly elections on a Congress ticket. Then in the year 2017 in the Modi wave, she changed her side and moved from Congress to BJP and became MLA. Anticipating the political wind in the 2022 assembly elections, he again changed his side and filed his nomination this time as a SP candidate.
However, this time his bet turned heavy and Ram Niwas Verma, the BJP-backed Apna Dal-S candidate in Nanpara assembly seat, put the brakes on his victory. Apna Dal candidate Ram Niwas Verma defeated SP candidate Madhuri Verma by 12,184 votes in a very interesting contest.
Verma credits his victory to BJP workers and voters. In a conversation with the media, he thanked the public and said, ‘The public has given a befitting reply to the defectors. Now my priority area is development. There is Modi government in the central, as much as possible the schemes of both the governments will be brought on the ground.
