In the concluding session of the Mayor’s Council, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the National President of the Council talked about giving more powers to the corporations.

The conference in 112 of the two-day All India Mayor’s Council held in Kanpur ended on Saturday. The proposal to increase the powers of the Municipal Corporation was mainly passed in the council. Mayors from 7 states agreed on city self-government and unanimously passed a resolution to implement the 74th Amendment passed in Parliament 30 years ago.

Will raise the demand of 74th amendment in front of the Prime Minister
National President of All India Council of Mayors and Mayor of Agra Naveen Jain said that now he will recommend to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement this passed resolution. He said that the council has also passed a proposal to amend the Act to constitute a municipal cadre of IAS.

salary hike demand

In the council meeting, National General Secretary Umashankar Gupta, State President Umesh Gautam and Chhattisgarh Mayor Council President Mohammad Ejaz also shared their experiences and made proposals. Said that in Raipur Chhattisgarh, the salary of the first councilors was about 7.5 thousand and the salary of the mayor was about 15 thousand rupees. By placing a proposal in front of the government, it was increased to double.

On this the Mayor of Kanpur also demanded doubling the salary in UP. On this, the Mayor jokingly said that he had to stage a dharna in Lucknow and will give it to increase the salary.

Municipal commissioner wants transfer soon

Naveen Jain said that the municipal commissioners who are posted in the municipal corporations are soon transferred somewhere else or they themselves want to become the district magistrate as soon as possible. Because of this, he is unable to pay attention to the works of the Municipal Corporation, so it is necessary that there should be a separate IAS cadre of the Municipal Corporations, wherever the officer of this cadre is transferred, then the posting should be done in the Municipal Corporations only.

Office for councilors will be built in every ward
Speaking in the council, Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey said that the public finds it difficult at times to reach the councilor in the ward itself. In such a situation, now offices will be constructed for councilors in all 110 wards in Kanpur. Where councilors will have to sit regularly. This will also give permanent solution to the people.

The concluding session was inaugurated by Cabinet Minister Pratibha Shukla and District Panchayat President Swapnil Varun. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana was present as the chief guest. On this occasion, Satish Mahana said that the municipal corporation should have all the officers in the bodies. Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey welcomed all the guests. Municipal commissioner Sivasharanappa GN expressed his gratitude to all. All the mayors also went to Green Park and also went to see the visitors gallery.
