Due to the sudden change in the city’s weather, neither a single flight could land nor take off at Chakeri airport on Thursday. On Wednesday also, flights from Chakeri to Mumbai and Bangalore had to be canceled. Due to the continuing cold wave and cloudy skies across North India, planes are finding it difficult to fly. Chakeri Airport director BK Jha said, “Not a single flight could land and take off from the city on Thursday. The same happened with flights to Bangalore and Mumbai on Wednesday. IndiGo’s Delhi to Kanpur, Mumbai, Bangalore and SpiceJet’s Delhi and Mumbai flights were canceled due to low visibility.
Flight may remain canceled in the coming days also…
Chakeri Airport Director BK Jha said, “The kind of weather we are seeing, it can be estimated that all flights from Chakeri airport may remain canceled for the next two to three days. If the weather is a little better, then maybe the flight will be able to land.
The weather had troubled PM Modi too.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kanpur on 28 December. Here he participated in the convocation ceremony of IIT Kanpur along with the PM’s public meeting at Nirala Nagar Railway Ground. Along with this, the gift of Kanpur Metro was given to the residents of Kanpur. Addressing the public meeting, he targeted the previous governments of UP. But due to bad weather and low-visibility in Kanpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plane has not got clearance to take off. For this reason, PM Modi had to leave for Lucknow by road from Kanpur.
Due to the absence of ILS-3, flights are unable to land in bad weather.
Let us tell you that the ILS-3 landing system was to be installed in Chakeri but this work is yet to get clearance from the Defense Ministry. For this reason, flights are not able to land here at night and in bad weather. PM Narendra Modi’s special plane also could not take off from Chakeri airport due to this reason. Chakeri currently has ILS Cat-1 installed, which is quite old.
Many passengers had to face problems due to the cancellation of flights. Many passengers had a connecting flight from Mumbai, which they missed.
