In Chandauli district, the Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood Campaign Day will be celebrated twice every month by the Health Department. For this, the 9th and 24th of every month have been selected. But in this month, being a Sunday on 24th April, this campaign will be celebrated on 25th April. Initiatives have been taken to reduce maternal and infant deaths in this.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. YK Rai informed that Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood Campaign Day is already being organized on 9th at all health centers to reduce maternal and child mortality. For the antenatal check-up of the deprived pregnant, the government has decided to organize the Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood Campaign on two days in a month. Now safe maternity clinics will be started at health centers on 24th of every month. Nodal Officer Dr. RB Sharan said that maternal and child mortality can be reduced by conducting regular check-up at the center and pre-natal check-up (ANC) to the beneficiary identified with high-risk pregnancy.
Extending the event to facilitate
The program is being expanded to provide regular free check-up of pregnant women and proper post-delivery care. Along with the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) day to be organized at all health centers on 9th of every month in the district, it has now been extended to 24th. This time, due to Sunday on April 24, it will be organized on April 25 at District Joint Hospital Chakia and Kamalapati Tripathi, District Women’s Hospital Mughalsarai (DDU) and Community Health Center Sakaldiha and Naugarh.
