The UP government has increased the duty allowance of Provincial Rakshak Dal (PRD) jawans by Rs 20 per day from Rs 375 to Rs 395. For this, Special Secretary Anand Kumar Singh has sent orders related to this to all the concerned officers including the Director General of UP Provincial Rakshak Dal and Youth Welfare. The government had discussed the increase in duty allowance of PRD jawans in the supplementary budget during the monsoon session. The order was passed after the Governor gave his assent. Earlier in March 2019, the government increased the duty allowance of PRD jawans from Rs 250 to Rs 375. However, the PRD personnel were expecting an increase of Rs.100 in the duty allowance.
There was hope among the soldiers after increasing the allowance of Asha and Anganwadi workers
According to the PRD jawans, during the monsoon session, the government had discussed with the PRD for the honorarium of other workers including Asha and Anganwadi workers, employment servants, cooks, watchmen. After which everyone’s allowance was increased, only PRD remained. At present, PRD jawans used to get Rs 375 per day as duty allowance. At the same time, most of the PRD jawans do not even get work throughout the year. In districts where there is an average number of jawans, duty is available only for six to seven months. The soldiers get departmental duty. Apart from this, they are posted there on the demand from other departments.
