Electricity workers and engineers will oppose the Electricity (Amendment) Bill across the country.
The opposition to the passage of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 in Parliament by the Central Government is going to intensify again. Electricity workers across the country will protest on November 29. During this, there will be demonstrations in all the state capitals and union territories. On the instructions of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEE), all these organizations will come on one platform and organize this movement. Chairman of All India Power Engineers Federation Shailendra Dubey said that in the online meeting of National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers held on 11th November, it was decided to protest on 29th November, the first day of winter session of Parliament. This protest will be done to warn the central government. If an attempt is made to pass the Anti-People Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 in a hurry in the Parliament, there will be a nation-wide agitation.
Demand to send the matter to the Standing Committee
He demanded that the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2021 should be sent to the Standing Committee on Electricity Affairs instead of the hastily passed grocery from Parliament. The most prominent stakeholders in the power sector, electricity consumers and power employees, should be given an opportunity to present their case before the Standing Committee.
Meeting to be held in Delhi on 30th November
He informed that the programs of nationwide agitation will be announced by NCCOEE to protest the introduction of Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 by the Central Government in the winter session of Parliament. A meeting in this regard will be held in Delhi on November 30. The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers will meet senior leaders of all political parties in protest against the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 and inform them about the anti-people provision of the bill.
