Whereas Rajesh Gautam of BJP won here by getting a record 96,405 votes. He defeated Bhagelu Ram, who switched from BSP to SP, by 25,723 votes. Bhagalu Ram stood second in this seat by securing 60,749 votes in 2017 and 59,173 votes in 2012.
After a decade in Sadar seat, BSP played bets on its old face OP Singh. He got 39,920 votes. The interesting thing here was that while BSP repeated the old face after a decade, Raj Prasad Upadhyay, who was facing the brunt of defeat after fighting on the symbol of BSP in a decade, changed his side and joined the Nishad Party and contested on the BJP symbol.
