In the first semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2021, New Zealand beat England by 5 wickets and cut their ticket to the final. Williamson also heaped praise on Neesham who played a blistering knock when New Zealand needed 57 runs in four overs. The Kiwi captain said, “Many things matter in T20 cricket like the wicket, the location of the short boundaries and other such things that make a difference in the game. We had wickets which was really important. Neesham hit a lot of big shots and changed the course of the game.
In 16 overs, New Zealand’s score was 110 runs for the loss of 4 wickets and England were on the way to victory, but James Neesham scored 23 runs in the 17th over of Chris Jordan to make the match exciting. After this, Daryl Mitchell sealed the victory of the Kiwi team by hitting Chris Woakes for two consecutive sixes in the 19th over. Mitchell returned unbeaten on 72 off 47 balls, while Neesham played a blistering innings of 27 runs in 11 balls.
