FIR lodged against 4 officers including registrar of Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University – Symbolic Images
A sensational case related to Dr. Shakuntala Mishra Rehabilitation University of Lucknow came to light on Wednesday. An FIR has been lodged against University Registrar Amit Kumar, alleging sexual harassment by a woman officer posted in the university itself. The victim has lodged an FIR against the Registrar Amit Rai, Professor Himanshu Shekhar and Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh, including the Registrar, at Para police station in Lucknow.
No hearing on complaint from university administration
The victim alleges that the registrar is harassing her for the last three years. The woman, who was appointed in the university in 2018, has alleged that registrar Amit Kumar, along with three other university officials, was pressurizing her to have physical relations for the last three years. Also, according to the victim, even after this, on many occasions, Amit kept on physically touching her on one pretext or the other. Even asked to have a physical relationship directly. On the victim’s refusal, accused Amit got the other staff of the university to threaten her and spoil her future. According to the victim, from 2018 to 2021, she was harassed in every way. Meanwhile, the victim also complained to the university administration but there was no hearing.
FIR has been lodged against them –
An FIR was registered on Wednesday. The victim lodged an FIR against the registrar, deputy registrar, professor and office staff at Para police station. The police have started investigation by registering an FIR against these four under serious sections including Section 354, 120B of IPS. The police have said that action will be taken after investigating the matter.
What did the Vice Chancellor say? ,
University Vice Chancellor Prof. RKP Singh told that I do not have information about the FIR. I have returned from Guwahati to Lucknow on Wednesday evening itself. This matter was also brought before the ICC i.e. Internal Complaints Committee. The committee acquitted the accused without any concrete evidence. The victim later appealed to the VC office. A decision on this will also come by the next 15-20 days.
