Ghaghra and Saryu crossed the danger mark
In Gonda, the water level of Ghaghra and Saryu rivers has gone above the danger mark, due to which dozens of villages of Tarabganj and Colonelganj have been turned into islands. People are taking the help of boat to come and go. Boats are now running on the submerged roads. The water level of the Ghaghra river has risen 80 cm above the danger mark after lakhs of cusecs of water was released into the Ghaghra river after the rains in the mountains of Nepal. In such a situation, floods have entered many villages of Karnailganj and Tarabganj tehsils of Gonda district. Due to which the life of the villagers has been disturbed. People have been forced to migrate. At the same time, the administration is talking about providing every resource for the flood victims, but according to the villagers, it seems insufficient.
Administration’s claims open pole
The floods in the villages have not only created troubles in the lives of the villagers but have also proved inadequate for the administration. The water of Ghaghra river has taken many villages including Nakhara in its lap. Whenever there has been flood in Gonda district, it has come only in the last month of August or in the month of September. Although a lot of preparations were made in the administration this time regarding the flood, but after the arrival of water in the village, the poles of those preparations are being exposed. A new dam was built in the administration to protect against floods, that too could not save the villagers from the brunt of the floods.
Crop of hundreds of hectares of land wasted
While the villagers have their own pain due to the floods coming every year, if we talk about the administration, so far 200 hectares of land in which 110 hectares of cultivable land has come under the grip of floods. It has a population of about 2000, 1500 animals and about 500 families have come under this flood. To help the flood victims, the administration has set up relief camps here, while boats have been arranged by the administration.
Narsingh Narayan Verma, Tehsildar of Colonelganj, says that due to the flood, water has gone into many houses. People are coming to the dam. Boats have been set up for their movement. Tripal and ration kits will be distributed to the people.
