Dr. Virendra Singh Yadav.
After independence, for the first time in Ghazipur district after the new delimitation, no party other than SP could open an account from Jangipur, the assembly seat that came into existence till date. Not only this, only one family continues to occupy this seat. Kailash Yadav won this seat of Jangipur, popularly known as the biggest grain market of Purvanchal, in the 2012 elections held for the first time. In the by-election held after the death of Kailash Yadav, former Minister of State for Panchayati, his wife Kismatiya Devi became MLA from here. In the 2017 elections, his son Dr. Virendra Yadav, carrying on the father’s legacy, retained the SP’s possession of the Jangipur seat even in the BJP wave, and became an MLA for the first time. Ram Naresh Kushwaha of BJP, who was the closest rival in that election, was also defeated by Virendra Yadav in the election of 2022.
Prior to the delimitation, most of Jangipur was included in the Sadar Vidhan Sabha and Jakhanian. After delimitation, Jangipur became a new assembly in 2012. In such a situation, the political parties did not want to leave any stone unturned to beat the opponents by putting up their flag on this new seat, but their wish was constantly thwarted by the SP. In the 2022 election, Dr. Virendra Yadav of SP won by a margin of 35063 votes. In this election also BJP came second.
