Agra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving the gift of Metro (Kanpur News) in Kanpur. In such a situation, the pace of metro work is progressing slowly in Agra as well. Metro can be gifted in Agra till April 2024. 6 stations are to be built for trial in Taj Nagari. The construction work of three of these stations has already started. A 6-km priority corridor is being built in Agra and on this metro trial will be held.
In December 2020, PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Agra Metro. After this, 50 percent work of 3 stations has been completed in these 12 months. The colors of Agra Metro have also been finalised. Arvind Rai, director of Agra Metro Project, says that by April 2024, metro service will start between three elevated and three underground stations in Agra.
The cost of Agra Metro is Rs 8370 crore. Out of these, the tender process is going on for works worth 2200 crores, while the construction of 3 metro stations is going on at a cost of 273 crores. Similarly, a metro depot is being built at PAC Ground at a cost of Rs 112 crore.
Work behind NOC
UPMRC has taken a loan of about Rs 4100 crore from the European Investment Bank for the metro project in the Taj city of Agra. It took half a year to complete this process. The tender for the underground station has not been finalized yet. Seven underground stations are to be built at a cost of about 2200 crores. The deadline for completion of the work has been fixed as June 2024. Apart from this, the Agra Metro will run by touching the restricted perimeter of 11 monuments. In such a situation, UPMRC has received a no-objection certificate from the Monument Authority with a delay of about 6 months.
Due to this the work of Agra Metro got delayed. Now it is expected that in the month of April 2024, the residents of Taj city will get the gift of Metro.
