On returning from work on Friday evening, he drank alcohol in the village itself, after which his condition started deteriorating. The family took him to the local hospital late in the night, but his life could not be saved. In the early morning, the administration got the body cremated.

In Basahan village itself, the house of Devendra Sharma is also mourning. The family is deeply shocked by the death of Devendra Sharma. Ramchandra Sharma, father of 35-year-old Devendra, says that his son used to do furniture work. He used to take care of his five small children by working hard. After returning from work on Friday evening, he drank alcohol near Pakpi Mor, after which his condition worsened and died in the night after coming home. On the other hand, 75-year-old Rajeshwar Singh of Ekderwan village and JK Yadav of Sonwalia Kodar village also died after consuming alcohol. After the death of four people, the condition of many people, including ward member Rinku Yadav of ward number six of Hamidpur Panchayat, is said to be critical, who are being treated in private hospitals.
After the death of four people due to alcohol, the administration has woken up and now it is being told to investigate. Gopalganj DM Dr Naval Kishore Chaudhary said that news was received through the media but no such information has been received so far. A team has been constituted for investigation and has been sent. If the matter is found to be true, then strict action will be taken against the culprits. The DM said that raids are going on in the Baikunthpur area since yesterday and a survey of the area is also being done by drones, so that liquor stores can be detected and demolished.
It is worth noting that this is not the first case of spurious liquor incident in Gopalganj. Before this, there have been three poisonous liquor cases. If we look at the figures, so far 50 people have lost their lives due to drinking spurious liquor.
