Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday said that nothing is pending at its level as far as the investigation into the incident of Gorakhnath temple attack is concerned. Now the matter rests with the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Whereas, when asked about the attack on the Gorakshanath temple, the apex bench of the Nath sect, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said that nothing is pending from our side. When asked whether the NIA would take over the investigation, he said it was up to him (NIA) to take over the investigation. Nothing is pending from our side. The NIA has to take a decision in this regard.
It is worth mentioning that on the evening of April 3, IIT graduate Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi at Gorakhnath temple forcibly tried to enter the temple premises and attacked the security personnel with sharp weapons, injuring two constables of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). However, the security personnel soon overpowered him and arrested him.
UAPA has been imposed on the accused of Gorakhnath temple attack
The Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) was imposed against Abbasi, accused in the Gorakhnath temple attack case, on Saturday. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh Police, which is probing the case, on Saturday produced the accused Abbasi in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Gorakhpur. Abbasi was sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the court. It is noteworthy that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the Peethadheeshwar of Gorakshpeeth. He often visits the temple.
