Police have arrested nine people for their involvement in violence and stone pelting during Ram Navami procession at Khambhat in Gujarat’s Anand district, while a similar incident was followed in Himmatnagar town of Sabarkantha under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). 144 has been implemented. Officials gave this information on Monday.
He said that Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi called a meeting of top police officers in Gandhinagar late on Sunday night regarding these incidents and gave necessary orders. One person died in clashes in Khambhat on Sunday.
According to Anand Superintendent of Police Ajit Rajian, nine people who were allegedly involved in the violence and stone pelting have been arrested so far. He said, “The situation in Khambhat city is under control. We have already arrested nine suspects and started further investigation. According to police sources, some local clerics are also among those arrested. At the same time, there are reports of stone pelting and clashes in Himmatnagar of Sabarkantha district in similar violence between two communities on the occasion of Ram Navami on Sunday.
