Nitin, a disabled child from Ghaziabad, who was kidnapped from Brajghat on the day of Diwali in Hapur, has been recovered safely from Moradabad. In the greed of getting a reward of three lakh rupees announced by the family, the accused himself reached the Moradabad police with the child.
The abduction took place from Brijghat
Neeraj Kumar, a resident of Ravidas Nagar, Ghaziabad, had come to Brajghat in Hapur along with his family and four-year-old son Nitin to take a holy dip in the Ganges on Kartik Amavasya (Deepawali festival) on the night of November 3. On November 4, at four in the morning, Neeraj and his family were taking a bath in the Ganges. Nitin was sitting near the clothes on the ghat. During this, a person lured him and took him away. The kidnapping incident was captured on CCTV, but the face of the accused was not clear in the footage.
3 lakh reward was announced
Six teams were formed for the recovery of the child. The family had announced a reward of one lakh for the person who found the child and 25 thousand by the police. When the child was not found for several days, the family had increased the reward amount to Rs 3 lakh. The police had also put up posters of the child’s photos and prize money in the surrounding districts. The photo was also shared on social media.
The accused roamed around for 6 days
The kidnapper played hide and seek with the police for 6 days. When the wife became ill, the accused appeared in the greed of reward. The accused reached Kundarki police station in Moradabad with the child on Tuesday. Where the accused told that the child was found by him at the bus stand. The accused gave his name as Neeraj resident Chhajlait.
On suspicion, the police took Neeraj into custody and informed the Hapur police. On receiving the information, a team of Garh police left for Kundarki police station. Where Neeraj was strictly interrogated, the truth came out. After which the Hapur police came to the Garh police station with the child and the kidnapper.

SP Deepak Bhukar said that the accused Neeraj is the father of three daughters. He kidnapped Nitin as he did not have a son. Taking her, he reached his home in Chhajlat in Moradabad. Due to the greed of three lakh rupees reward and fear of being caught, the accused reached Kundarki police station with him. The SP said that the child has been handed over to the relatives. A report has been filed against Neeraj in other sections including kidnapping.
