According to the information, the team of Food Department was getting news of hoarding and black marketing of edible oil. The team went out and checked the godowns of wholesale and retail oil trader Haji Mohammad Peer Mohammad, Akhil Traders and Bajaj & Co at Vijay Nagar in Chandalbhata in the district. When the food department team reached to investigate, neither the stock register was found nor there was any information on the board. When the online portal of the traders was checked, the data was not uploaded in that also. Just after that, more than 1 lakh 72 thousand liters of edible oil kept in the godowns of the three traders were confiscated. The value of this goods has been estimated at Rs 2 crore 61 lakh.

The traders did not even enter the information about the goods that were purchased from 30 March to 30 April. All the information was hidden. Therefore, the oil was confiscated by registering a case under the Essential Commodities Act 1955 and the MP Edible Oil and Oilseeds Traders Regulation Order 2022. According to officials, 59 thousand 13 liters of oil were seized from Haji Mohammad Peer Mohammad’s godown, 57 thousand 880 liters from Akhil Traders and 55 thousand 190 liters from Bajaj Traders. The food department has sealed the godowns. A notice has been given to the traders to inform about the purchase and sale. If the traders do not provide the information, then a case will be registered against them in many other sections.
