IIT Kanpur, Bombay and Delhi
Opportunity for the youth of Ladakh to start startups with the help of IIT Kanpur, Bombay and Delhi. Its institutes have also made full preparations. This startup incubation center to be launched in Ladakh will develop entrepreneurship development framework in food processing, handicrafts, handloom, textiles, pashmina, emerging technologies and business sectors. To take stock of this center, officials of the three institutions visited Ladakh on May 8 and discussed with 40 entrepreneurs there. The officer also visited the incubation center at Leh and Kargil. Interacted with ITI, Polytechnic students and teachers at Eliezer Zoldan Memorial College and prepared the road ahead.
IIT teams took stock
Prof. Anil Verma of Chemical Engineering, IIT Delhi, Dr. Anil Wali, Prof. Amitabh Bandyopadhyay, Department of Bio-Engineering, IIT Kanpur and other officials had gone to Ladakh. The entrepreneurs highlighted the need for cooperation in developing technologies sensitive to the fragile ecosystem of Ladakh. Discussions were held with experts on processing technology, storage, packaging and marketing. Also identified various problem statements for developing effective solutions in the field. Prof. Bandyopadhyay said that entrepreneurs have also told about many problems. Experts from IITs will cooperate to solve their problems. Such a system of startups will be developed so that the youth can not only stand on their own feet, but can also provide employment to others.
