Taking a jibe at UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s statement, Congress said that the Chief Minister does not have the right to insult the people of the district. Congress spokesperson Omkar Pandey condemned the statement of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in which Yogi had said a day earlier during his visit to Azamgarh that people were not getting rooms in hotels and Dharamshala outside in the name of Azamgarh. Azamgarh had an identity crisis. The Chief Minister does not know the history of Azamgarh.

Congress spokesperson Omkar Pandey said that Azamgarh has been a stronghold of revolutionaries. Azamgarh remained independent for 81 days in the revolt of 1857, it is recorded in the golden letters in the history of the freedom movement. Sage Durvasa is the penance place of Rishi Dattatreya and Moon Rishi. Azamgarh has a great identity with many great poets, litterateurs like Ayodhya Singh Upadhyay Hariodh, Pandit Rahul Sankrityayan, Acharya Chandrabali, Allama Shibli Nomani Kaifi Azmi. Azamgarh is also recognized globally by the Banarasi sarees of Nizamabad’s Black Patri Mubarakpur.
not laid the brick of development
The Congress spokesperson said that the BJP government, which talks about development, has not laid even a single brick of development in Azamgarh till now. It is only engaged in distributing electoral rhetoric. The Chief Minister may not know that the earlier governments had constructed a big dam like Mahula Garhwal in Azamgarh in 1955, not even non-Congress governments are capable of repairing it.
