In the case of violence that took place in Jahangirpuri area of Delhi on Saturday night, the police is in action mode since night. By registering a FIR in this case, the police have arrested 21 people including the main accused who started the stone pelting while also arrested 2 minor accused. The investigation of the case has been handed over to the Crime Branch. Till now this investigation was being done by the local police and teams from other units were helping.
According to the police, the procession was going on peacefully, but when it reached near Jama Masjid located in the area, a person named Ansar reached there with some boys and started arguing with the people involved in the procession, from where the ruckus started. And there was stone pelting. The FIR also mentions of firing during stone pelting on Shobha Yatra. At the same time, the police have so far received about 100 videos related to violence from various sources. The police engaged in the investigation of the case is also trying to identify the miscreants through these videos.

According to the statement, when the procession reached near Jama Masjid in C block of Jahangirpur, this accused named Ansar reached there with four or five companions and started arguing with the people involved in the procession. After this the dispute escalated and stone pelting started. According to police sources, Ansar already has criminal cases registered against him. It is written in the FIR that the procession was being taken out peacefully, but as soon as Ansar came there, stone pelting started with the argument. After this stone pelting took place from both the sides.
15 more suspects are being questioned
At the same time, the police engaged in the investigation of the case is interrogating the other 15 suspects who are seen among the crowd on the basis of the interrogation and video footage of the arrested accused. Apart from this, police teams are also raiding possible places in search of some other suspects. On the other hand, out of the 15 suspects coming under the JD for questioning, some others are also likely to be arrested. Police say that as soon as the evidence related to them is in the hands of the police, they will be arrested.
