The Jangipur assembly seat comes under the Ghazipur Lok Sabha constituency and has been dominated by the SP for a long time. In the last election also, the Samajwadi Party had waved the flag. The Bharatiya Janata Party had a massive victory in the last assembly elections. The BJP got 325 seats in the elections held on 403 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
