Shimla. The familyism about which the BJP distributed tickets in the Himachal by-elections was heavy for them. Alam was that his bail was forfeited in Jubbal Kotkhai elections. While Rohit Thakur, who was handling familyism and his grandfather’s political legacy, won. Something similar happened in the Fatehpur seat of Kangra (Fatehpur by elections). The BJP continued to surround the Congress in the name of familyism, but the public tied the knot of victory for the product of the same family and the son of former late MLA Sujan Singh Pathania.
In the market too, familyism prevailed. From here the Virbhadra family contested and won the most number of times. The result was that again Pratibha Singh of Congress has become MP. In the last five elections, Congress has won from here three times. People have reposed faith in the same Virbhadra Singh family all three times.
Big blow to BJP in Jubbal?
Don’t be too proud of your victory, ‘O oblivious’, more talk in the city than your victory is about my defeat! This share must be running in the minds of Chetan Bragta and his supporters. In fact, in Jubbal Kotkhai, BJP cut the ticket of Chetan Bragta, son of former minister and late MLA Narendra Bragta. Here Chetan Bragta presented a challenge to Rohit Thakur of Congress. He got close to 24 thousand votes. As an independent candidate, he got so many votes, it is a big deal in itself. BJP’s Neelam Saraiq got only 4 per cent votes and her deposit was forfeited. Say that here Chetan Bragta and BJP candidate’s defeat were discussed more than the victory of Congress.
What was the result of Jubbal
The victory of Rohit Thakur of Congress from Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly constituency was 6293 votes. Rohit Thakur got 29,955 votes BJP’s Neelam Saraiq got only 2644 and Azad and rebel Chetan Singh Bragta got 23662 votes. The BJP candidate’s bail was forfeited.
