The ED has started investigation into the land scam done by an organization named Gopalpur Sahakari Krishi Samiti Limited in Mirzapur and surrounding areas. A retired High Court judge is also under the scanner of the ED. However, he says that being a member of the organization, the report has been filed. The rest means nothing to them. Several people from the family of former Chief Minister Kamalapati Tripathi have been named in this case. Apart from this, many other political family members are also involved.

Its information was sent to the government. After investigation from the registrar, a case was registered against 42 high profile people under various sections including cheating. According to the report, the committee originally had 17 members. Later it became 42 members including legal heirs.

The valuable lands of the organization were sold. Millions of land scams were done in Mirzapur and the surrounding area over the years. People from many well-known families of Varanasi, Jaunpur, Mirzapur and Prayagraj came under the scanner. After getting the evidence in the matter, the Registrar Co-operative Society filed a report against all the 42 members of the society on 15 June 2021 at the Madihan police station.
Those nominated included the family members of former Chief Minister Kamalapati Tripathi as well as a retired High Court judge. Apart from these, people from many political families were also nominated. In view of the big names in this scam of crores, the police dropped their hands from the investigation. Even after a year has passed, nothing has happened yet. On the initiative of the government, the ED has now decided to take its investigation into its own hands.
Preliminary investigation is being done. According to sources, soon the ED will start investigation by registering a report in this matter. In this case, the retired judge told that he is definitely a member of this institution, but he has no meaning in its operation. It may be that the report has been filed as a member. So far no officer has come to him for questioning. Nor were they given any information.
