Lucknow: Parthiv Patel and Thisara Perera kept their patience even under pressure conditions to guide Gujarat Giants to a two-wicket win over Manipal Tigers in Legends League cricket here. Chasing a target of 121 runs, the Giants lost the wickets of captain Virender Sehwag (one) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (nil) within three balls. Both of them were dismissed by former Zimbabwe fast bowler Chris Mopofu (2/26).
Parthiv made 34 off 17 balls while Perera made 22 off 20 balls as the Giants chased down the target in 17.2 overs for the loss of eight wickets. Muttiah Muralitharan, Parvinder Awana, Harbhajan Singh and Mopofu took two wickets each for Manipal.
Earlier, batting first, Manipal had scored 120 runs for eight wickets. For him, Ravikant Shukla contributed 32 and Mohammad Kaif contributed 24 runs. Dilshan and Ashok Dinda took two wickets each for the Giants. (agency)
