Buddha’s Tathagata Nanihal
In Maharajganj, 2.24 acres of land has been preserved by the archeology department at Banarsiha Kala Devdah, the Tathagata Nanihal of Mahatma Buddha, which has been protected by tarbar. The survey was done by Archaeological Officer Narsingh Tyagi with the intention of re-excavating that land. For which permission has been sought for excavation by sending a letter to the Department of Archeology, New Delhi, Government of India. On the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Archaeological Department, the team of Archeology Department reached under the leadership of Archaeological Officer Narsingh Tyagi at Banarsiha Kala, the maternal grandmother of Mahatma Buddha.
2.24 acres of land surveyed
Where the survey of 2.24 acres of land was done in the Tathagata Nanihal Gram Panchayat Banarsiha Kala Devdah of Gautam Buddha. This land was mined for the first time in the year 1991 by the Archaeological Department, Patna. After that the plan lay in limbo. After 31 years, with the intention of giving a new dimension to Devdah, the department has become active to bring it on the world map by placing it on the common man’s table. The department wants to develop Devdah as a tourist destination like Kushinagar and Kapilbastu by excavating the palace, Devdah tile.
Ancient site will get a new identity
Jitendra Rao, president of Devdah Buddhist Development Committee, who has been demanding for this for years, said that after excavation, the ancient site will get a new identity. Due to which the identity of the archaeological heritage will increase and along with increasing the dignity of Devdah on the world stage, the area will develop. For which a team of many people including Regional Officer of Archaeological Department Narsingh Tyagi has reached Devdah and surveyed.
excavation in two and a half acres
In this regard, Regional Archaeological Officer Gorakhpur Narsingh Tyagi said that the building remains of the palace will be excavated in about 2.5 acres. The Archaeological Department of India is sending a proposal to New Delhi for the excavation work. The excavation work will be started as soon as the approval is received.
