Prayagraj. Anand Giri, the main accused of abetting the suicide of Mahant Narendra Giri, president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, has received a major setback from the sessions court. The Essential Commodities Act Special Court has rejected the bail application of Anand Giri. Let us inform that after the completion of the debate, the E-C court had reserved the decision on Wednesday. The CBI had opposed the bail application. The CBI had argued that the grant of bail to Anand Giri would affect the investigation of the case. The trial court has rejected the bail application of Anand Giri for the third time. Now Anand Giri is left with the option of going to the High Court for bail.
It is worth noting that Anand Giri’s bail application has been rejected twice in the past as well. After his arrest on September 22, the CJM Court rejected the bail application and sent Anand Giri to jail for 14 days in judicial custody. Whereas for the second time on October 28, the bail application of Anand Giri was rejected by the CJM Court saying that the sessions court has the jurisdiction to hear the matter.
On Wednesday, the CBI has filed an application in the CJM court to get the voice sample of the main accused Anand Giri. Opposing the CBI’s application, Anand Giri’s lawyers have sought time from the court. The court of CJM Harendra Nath will hear the matter on November 12. After which it will be decided whether the voice sample of Anand Giri can be taken or not. It is worth noting that earlier the CBI had filed an application seeking a polygraph test of the main accused Anand Giri and two other accused Aadya Prasad Tiwari and Sandeep Tiwari. But due to the denial of the accused, the CJM court rejected the CBI’s application.
Anand Giri is in judicial custody till November 12. On the same day, the CJM court will also hear on the extension of judicial custody. Anand Giri has been lodged in Naini Central Jail since 22 September. Mahant Narendra Giri was found dead in the Mutt Baghambari throne on 20 September. Anand Giri was arrested and sent to jail for abetting Mahant Narendra Giri to commit suicide. Mahant Narendra Giri has also held Anand Giri responsible for the suicide in his suicide note.
