Ritika’s family members present at the post-mortem house
The married woman died in suspicious circumstances in Kotwali Sahaswan area of Badaun. The maternal side alleges that the married woman was murdered by her in-laws. The reason is that the in-laws were demanding Rs 10 lakh as dowry. This incident has been carried out due to non-fulfillment of demand. Police have filed a case of dowry murder against seven people including husband and sent the body for post-mortem.
The incident is from Mohalla Akbarabad of Sahaswan. Gaurav, who lives here, was married in November 2021 with Ritika (21), daughter of Suresh, resident of Hamupur Chamarpura village of the same Kotwali area. Ritika died on Friday night under suspicious circumstances. When the maternal relatives reached, his body was found there and the in-laws were talking about death due to illness.

The father told that a decent dowry was given in the marriage, but after a few days, the in-laws started asking for Rs 10 lakh more. Gaurav had to do business with this amount. In the middle of this, several times a Panchayat was also held between both the parties. At the same time, the accused started torturing Ritika. Due to this torture he was killed.

Kotwal Sanjeev Shukla said that on the complaint of father, a case has been registered against seven people including her husband Gaurav, Mahipal, Chhotelal, Lakshmi, Radha, Totaram. The post-mortem report is awaited. Further action will be taken on this basis. CO Sahaswan Chandrapal Singh will investigate the matter.
