If you are caught charging a vehicle with your home meter, your electric vehicle will be confiscated. A case will also be registered against you under the Electricity Act. The Energy Department has issued a new order in this regard. Under this, those having electric vehicles in Madhya Pradesh will have to get a new electricity connection. The government has made a new meter mandatory for vehicle charging. The tariff plan of these meters will also be costlier than domestic meters like commercial ones.
Let us tell you, in Madhya Pradesh, the government has banned the charging of electric vehicles from the meter of the house. The Energy Department has issued a strict order asking people to take separate meters and charge their vehicles. The special thing about this order of the department is that under this meter will be installed, its bill will be at the rates of commercial electricity. It is worth noting that the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has fixed separate electricity rates for the charging of electric vehicles. Those using electric vehicles will be given charging stations only after completing all the formalities of the government.
Case will be registered in Electricity Act
The government has made it mandatory to have a separate electricity connection for electric vehicle charging. Strict action will be taken against charging the vehicle using unauthorized electricity. If people charge the vehicle by domestic, agricultural or other means, then strict action will be taken against them under sub-section 2 of section 135 of the Electricity Act 2003 by confiscation of e-rickshaw/vehicle and related equipment.
