New Delhi. With the Noida International Airport going to be ready in Jewar, many changes are also going to be seen in the area. These include the Yamuna Expressway located near the airport to be specially prepared for electric vehicles. It is reported that this will be the first highway in the country, where there will be many special facilities related to electric vehicles like charging point, battery replacement system. At present, the government seems to be very concerned about climate change.
According to media reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working in the field of zero carbon footprint airport. In such a situation, the important route reaching the airport will gradually be converted into a green highway. Regarding the airport, officials say that according to the announcement of PM Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, it will be a ‘zero emission’ airport.
According to India Today, solar power could be the main source of energy at the Noida International Airport. A large solar park will be constructed inside the premises to generate a large amount of electricity for the operation of such a large airport. Also, the roofs of airport buildings will be used to install additional panels. This route, set to be converted into a green highway, connects Delhi-NCR to Muthura, Agra and parts of western Uttar Pradesh.
The total size of the proposed airport is 5000 hectares. However, the first phase of construction will be done in only 1300 hectares. The proposed airport will be the largest in Asia and the fourth largest in the world, with eight strips. In the first phase, two strips are to be constructed. It is expected that by the end of 2024, about one of these runways will start operating. The estimated cost for the first phase of construction is Rs 10,050 crore. Whereas, the entire airport will be built for Rs 30,000 crore.
