But on Thursday, on the day of Diwali, there was confusion regarding the new rates. At present, new rates have been implemented in UP from today. Today petrol is getting Rs 94.94 per liter while diesel is getting Rs 86.89 per liter. With this decision of the government, now the people of the state are hopeful that the prices of everyday necessities can also come down.
Petrol has become costlier by Rs 8.85 and diesel by Rs 10.15 since September. Earlier, between May 4 and July 17, petrol became costlier by Rs 11.44 and diesel by Rs 9.14.
On Wednesday, the central government had reduced the prices
In fact, on Wednesday, the Modi government at the Center reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel. Due to which petrol became cheaper by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10. At the same time, the Yogi government, taking a big decision, reduced VAT on petrol and diesel in UP. Due to this, the rate of diesel was reduced by Rs 2 and that of petrol by Rs 7. In this way the total price has come down by Rs 12-12 per litre.
Government reduced VAT so much
State Tax Department’s Additional Chief Secretary Sanjeev Mittal has issued a notification on Thursday. According to this, 19.36 percent VAT will be levied on petrol and 17.08 percent on diesel. So far in the state, where the VAT on petrol is 26.80 percent and on diesel 17.48 percent. VAT has been reduced by 7.44 percent on petrol and 0.40 percent on diesel.
