An old woman died suspiciously in Sonai village of Meja police station area. The police, who reached the grandson’s information, picked up the body from the pyre and sent it for post-mortem. Police say that the grandson of the deceased has accused a member of the family of murder. Is being investigated. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.

According to the information received, the resident of Sonai village, Mr. Vanshdhari Patel has four daughters. In the absence of a son, a daughter and her family lived together in Sonai village. Three daughters are in in-laws’ house. Vanshdhari Patel’s wife Lachi Patel, aged 85, died late Tuesday night. The daughter and her son Prithviraj Patel, who lived together at that time, had gone somewhere. When Prithviraj came to know that his maternal grandmother Lachi Patel had died, he went straight to Meja police station. It was reported that in the greed of property, her maternal grandmother was strangled to death by some people.
Action will be taken after post-mortem
On receiving the complaint, the police reached Lachi’s house. It was learned that other members of the family have reached Gangaghat for his last rites. When the police arrived, the body of the old lady had reached the pyre. By then the police arrived and stopped them from the funeral. After doing a police Panchnama, the body was sent to the sawmill of SRN Hospital for post-mortem. Meja Police Station Inspector says that investigation is being done regarding the matter. Police is probing every angle. At present, further action will be taken after the post-mortem report is received.
