Dr. RK Verma, who reached Raniganj after changing from Pratapgarh seat, became MLA for the third time in a row. Till now he had won elections from Vishwanathganj twice. Although the account has been opened for the first time from Raniganj. Dr. RK Verma, who was active in the BSP for a long time, did not get a BSP ticket in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. After this he became MLA on Apna Dal (S) ticket with the support of BJP in the by-election held in Vishwanathganj this year.
In 2017 also he became the MLA of BJP-backed Apna Dal (S) from Vishwanathganj. Later, when there was a rift with the top leadership of his party, he was inclined towards the Samajwadi Party. However, he hardly got the SP ticket from Raniganj. Earlier Vinod Dubey was declared the candidate from here. Later Dr. RK Verma was made the candidate. Although he got a tough challenge here, but finally he won and hoisted the SP for the second time from Raniganj.
MLA for the third time
Before Raniganj formed in 2012, the MLA from SP was Prof. Shivakant Ojha was elected. In 2017 he lost but in 2022 Dr. RK Verma took back the party seat. On receiving information about his victory at the headquarters, firecrackers started bursting in Raniganj.
