Thane: Police have arrested two people in connection with the robbery in Thane district of Maharashtra. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. The accused had allegedly snatched a mobile phone and other items from a person last month and used his ‘credit card’ for online purchases, he said. Senior police inspector of Narpoli police station Madan Ballal said that the incident took place in Bhiwandi area on August 2 and both the accused were arrested on Sunday.
A person was going to his house on a bicycle, when the accused riding a motorcycle blocked his way and put chilli powder in his eye. After this, they snatched four mobile phones, ATM and credit cards and driving license from the person worth Rs 20 thousand. The accused later took out the person’s SIM from the mobile phone and inserted their SIM, the official said. He also allegedly made online purchases of Rs 1,61,388 with his credit card.
The police formed a team to trace them and also scanned the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area. The accused Minajul Faizul Haque (25) and Sharimuddin Anwaruddin Rehman (23) were arrested on Sunday, the official said. Mobile phones, ATM and credit cards and driving license have also been recovered from them. He said that the goods ordered online have not been received yet. (agency)
