Samastipur. In Bihar, continuous action is being taken by the investigating agencies against the corrupt officers and policemen. In this sequence, on Monday, the team of Patna Vigilance Department arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Umesh Kumar Singh, posted at Sarairanjan police station of Samastipur Sadar sub-division area, red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 30,000. The action of the surveillance department has created panic in the entire police department.
The team of surveillance department from Patna knocked on the Sarai Ranjan police station on Monday morning as a procession. Wedding stickers were on all the vehicles. The team took this action on the basis of the complaint made by the aggrieved party. According to the pre-decided time, the team of the monitoring department had reached the police station with the victim Mohammad Wasim, a resident of Mathurapur in the Warisnagar police station area of Samastipur. As soon as the amount of bribe was being given by the complainant to ASI Umesh Kumar Singh in the police station premises, the monitoring department team caught him red-handed. On being caught, the accused tried to escape from the clutches of the surveillance team but he failed in this.
According to the information received, on January 14, the Scorpio vehicle of the victim Mohammad Wasim had an accident near Varuna bridge of Sarai Ranjan police station area. A case was registered in the police station regarding this and the documents related to it were ordered to be presented in the court. But, the investigator of this incident was Umesh Kumar Singh and necessary papers were not being produced by him in the court. In lieu of this, a demand of Rs 50,000 was made from the victim in which Rs 30,000 was discussed. The complaint was made by the aggrieved party to the monitoring department. After verification of the matter, this action was taken on Monday by the team of monitoring department.
