Giving a big gift to women, Indian Railways has decided to reserve berths for women passengers in two trains going to Bihar. This facility will be available in Vikramshila Superfast Express and Bhagalpur Garib Rath train. According to railway officials, it has been decided to reserve a few berths in each of these two trains for women. According to officials, some seats in each class compartment of each coach of these long-distance trains will be reserved for women passengers. According to railway officials, 6 berths in sleeper class, 4-5 berths in third AC and 3-4 berths in second AC coach will be reserved for women.
When will the reservation in seats be implemented?
The new reservation of seats for women in trains connecting Delhi with the cities of Patna and Bhagalpur in Bihar is expected to be implemented from January next year. Earlier, the Indian Railways had implemented the rule to reserve seats for women in some other trains including Rajdhani, Humsafar Express and Duronto Superfast trains. Now for the safety of women passengers, this facility will soon be available in trains leaving from Bhagalpur to Surat, Dadar and other cities.
Railways launched ‘Meri Saheli’ campaign
Let us tell you that earlier the Railways had started ‘Meri Saheli’ campaign for the purpose of awareness and safety of women passengers. Under this, Indian Railways had reserved lower berths for men above 60 years of age and women above 45 years of age. This step was taken for the convenience of elderly passengers. Railway officials are preparing to implement this facility in all long distance trains as well.
