Three-time MLA and former National Youth Congress President Amarinder Singh Brar has been handed over the command of Punjab by the Congress High Command. He will replace Navjot Singh Sidhu. There is resentment in the Sidhu camp over the appointment of Brar as the new PCC chief. Former Congress MLA Surjit Dhiman has leveled serious allegations of corruption against Brar. Said the new PCC has been accused of selling major tickets and is a novice in comparison to Sidhu.
On Sunday, while Navjot Singh Sidhu congratulated the new PCC chief of Punjab Amarinder Singh Brar and the new CLP leader Pratap Singh Bajwa, the pro-Sidhu camp Congress leaders scolded Brar.
Former Congress MLA from Amargarh and Sidhu’s supporter Surjit Singh Dhiman has reacted to the new appointments made by the Congress High Command. Said that the new PCC chief “is a novice and the decision to appoint him as the PCC chief will prove to be a setback for the party.”
Dhiman said, “The present Congress chief is the most corrupt and the decision to appoint him is wrong. This decision is not in favor of Punjab but against Punjab. The Congress party will not be able to come out of this shock for long.” He further claimed that the new PCC chief would not be accepted as the leader as he “lacks the requisite support”.
Dhiman further said, “We cannot say that he is a better leader. He is the most corrupt. He has been accused of selling tickets in the states while leading the Youth Congress. We cannot expect anything from such leaders. He is a novice and an opportunist.”
At the same time, Surjit Dhiman praised Navjot Singh Sidhu and said that Sidhu worked selflessly for the party and was in touch with the party workers even after being removed from the post of PCC chief.
