New Delhi:Delhi High Court Has sought answers from the Delhi Government and Delhi Police on the petition of an elderly couple who reached the court for protection. The aged couple alleged that their son and his in-laws are allegedly harassing them for the property. Justice Jasmeet Singh also issued notice on the petition to the ADM of East Delhi, Geeta Colony and directed to file a status report in the matter. The couple has demanded from the court to direct the SHO of the area concerned to provide them security from their family members. Advocate Suresh Singh Bhadauria, appearing for the elders, said in the court that the petitioner is a senior citizen and he is being harassed by his own son and his in-laws for the property.
It is also alleged that the elderly couple has filed a complaint in the Senior Citizens Tribunal, which is being heard before the ADM of Geeta Colony. The lawyer said that the ADM was told how the petitioners were being harassed and tortured, despite that no action was taken.
The court issued notice to the respondent authorities and fixed November 24 for the next hearing in the matter. The court has been assured by the police that on receiving the complaint from the petitioner elders, immediate action will be taken to ensure their safety and protection.
