Mumbai: A medical student of the Nair Medical College and Hospital, run under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), committed suicide at her home on Wednesday. According to the police, the deceased was a final year medical student of the Department of Occupational Therapy, Dr. Shreyasa Pathkar Medical College. He committed suicide by putting a noose around his neck in his Agripada area house.
There was no one in the house at the time of suicide and no suicide note has also been found near its dead body, the reason for which suicide is first confused and the police is investigating the matter. Significantly, with this suicide, in the last one month, the case of suicide by medical students of two leading medical colleges of Mumbai has come to the fore so far.
Agripada police is investigating the matter
Ravikant Nandanwar, assistant police inspector of Agripada police station said that the deceased lived in the house with her parents and a younger brother. On September 21, when no one was in the house, he committed suicide by hanging himself around his neck. However, the police did not find any suicide note from the spot and neither the family members have expressed any apprehension. At present the police is probing the matter. On the other hand, Dr. Praveen Rathi, Dean of Nair Hospital has confirmed the suicide of the medical students. He said that this student had never shared his views with other students.
