Andra Pradesh : Class VIII students and teachers in Andhra Pradesh will have to wait three more months to get tablet computers (Tab) as promised by the government. The state government, however, had announced that it would distribute tabs to 4,59,564 students and 59,176 teachers in government and aided schools in September.
The delivery date is likely to be extended till December due to ‘supply issues’. According to sources associated with the education department, the government will distribute a total of 5,18,740 tabs at an expenditure of Rs 664 crore. Byju’s educational material will already be available for class VIII students in the tab.
Education Minister Botsa Satyanarayana told the Legislative Council last Friday that tabs would be distributed across the state on Children’s Day (November 14). A senior education department official said, “We can no longer meet that deadline due to lack of tabs. After all, now this work will be completed only by December. (agency)
