Those labels were criticized for not doing enough to stop people from spreading lies. These new warning labels were released worldwide on Tuesday, aiming to ensure easy detection of misinformation.
Experts say that such labels can be helpful to users, and they will ease the more arduous task of content moderation for social media platforms – that is, deciding whether posts, photos and videos that spread conspiracy and falsehoods should be banned. to be removed or not.
‘Label’ marked on three types of wrong information
Twitter only ‘labels’ three types of misinformation. Posts distorting facts, incorrect election or voting information and false and misleading information related to Kovid-19. Orange label and red label have been included in the updated design, so that they prove to be more effective than the previous label. Earlier the color of the label was blue, which matches the color of Twitter.
Twitter said that experiments have shown that if the color is simply eye-catching, it can help people identify the actual tweet. The company said that there was a 17 percent increase in the rate of information click on these labels, meaning more people tried to get information about false and misleading tweets using the new label.
Can’t reply to red label tweet
According to the company, deceptive tweets will be labeled orange and tweets with severely misinformed information, such as claims that vaccines cause autism, will be red-labeled. It will not be possible to reply to, or like and retweet, a Red Label Tweet.
