New Delhi. BJP BJP has started Mission 103 to win in western Uttar Pradesh. The party has started this mission to repeat the victory won in the last assembly elections. It is being run in those areas where polling is to be held for the first and second phases. The command of the mission has been handled by the Home Minister himself. Along with this, senior party leaders have camped in western Uttar Pradesh. The party is eyeing 17 percent Jat voters in the area.
Mission 103 is being run to win 103 assembly constituencies in 19 districts of western Uttar Pradesh. In the last elections, the BJP had performed well in this area, but this time due to the farmers’ agitation, there has been resentment against the BJP among the farmers of the region and the Jat community. That’s why the campaign is going on.
Home Minister Amit Shah himself has started it with public relations in Kairana. Along with this, the Home Minister has held a meeting with all the Jat leaders. During the meeting, Amit Shah told the Jat leaders that you can take out your annoyance with me, but what is the need for you to look towards any other party. Apart from Amit Shah, veteran leaders like Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, State President Swatantra Dev Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Dinesh Sharma have gathered for Mission 103.
In western Uttar Pradesh, the SP has forged an alliance with the RLD. Jayant Chaudhary is trying to take full advantage of the anger of the Jats. Keeping this in mind, the caste equation has been taken care of in ticket distribution. BJP is not trying to give any chance to RLD and SP to take advantage.
when are the elections
Voting is to be held in seven phases in Uttar Pradesh. In the first phase, on February 10, voting will be held in 58 seats in 11 districts. In this, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr districts are prominent. In the second phase, on February 14, voting will be held in 55 assembly seats in nine districts. In this Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Sambhal, Rampur, Bareilly, Amroha, Pilibhit are the major districts.
A look at the equation of pre-elections
In 73 seats in the first phase, BJP got 45 percent votes in 2017 as compared to 16 percent votes in 2012. At the same time, the vote share of the RLD led by Jat leader Ajit Singh declined from 11 per cent to 6 per cent. The vote share of other parties and independents also fell in this area. This clearly shows that Jats stood in support of BJP in the assembly elections like in the Lok Sabha elections. Due to this the whole wind changed. The Jats population may be between 3 and 4 per cent in the state, but in western Uttar Pradesh they are around 17 per cent. The Jat vote bank affects a dozen seats in the Lok Sabha and 120 seats in the assembly. BJP has slowly built up this vote bank. She doesn’t want it to get out of her hands all of a sudden. That’s why BJP has started Mission 103.
