BJP candidate from Maharajpur assembly constituency of Kanpur and cabinet minister in the state government Satish Mahana has created a record by winning for the eighth time. This is the third such MLA in the state, who has won eight consecutive times.
Till now this record was held by senior BJP leader Suresh Khanna and Congress leader Pramod Tiwari. From the first round of counting, he was leading from the nearest rival. He defeated SP candidate Fateh Bahadur Gill by 82,261 votes. Mahana got a total of 1,52,883 votes.
Compared to 2017 Mahana got more votes this time but the margin of victory has decreased. The reason is that this time SP has got more votes. Mahana’s victory margin in the last election was 91,826 and got a total of 1,32,394 votes.
