Former Olympian and Congress leader Vijender Singh along with his party’s national spokesperson Supriya Shrinet will visit Varanasi today. Both the Congress leaders will hold a meeting with the local office bearers of the party in view of the youth parliament as well as the assembly elections to be held here on January 30. Vijender and Supriya will return to Delhi in the evening.
The meeting will be held in the party office
Congress Metropolitan President Raghavendra Choubey told that both the leaders will come to the party office in Maidagin. Both the leaders will hold a meeting with the local leaders in the party office itself. Along with the campaigning for the assembly elections in Varanasi, the major programs of the party to be held here in the coming days will also be discussed. Let us inform that in February, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other party leaders will also come to Varanasi. In view of this, preparations are being made at the local level.
So far two candidates have been finalized
Congress has so far declared its candidates for 2 seats out of 8 assembly seats in Varanasi. Under this, former minister Ajay Rai from Pindra assembly and Congress district president Rajeshwar Singh Patel from Rohaniya have been declared candidates. The situation regarding the remaining 6 other assembly candidates is not clear yet. According to party officials, soon the names of the candidates will be made public and the situation will be clear.
